Learn to spin by hand on either a drop spindle or a wheel.  Lessons include 8 ounces of carded alpaca or mohair, or you may bring your own fiber.  You may use your own wheel or use one of ours for a small extra charge.  Our lessons are intended for first time or beginning spinners who want to improve their skills or try something new.  We will conduct your lesson here at the farm or at the location of your choice.  Mileage charges will apply.

Learn to knit along with the Wooly Works. Learn the basics of casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, increases, and decreases. We will discuss garter stitch, stocking stitch, knit/purl pattern stitches such as seed stitch, ribbing and moss stitch. We'll knit a swatch and learn to measure tension and figure gauge. Finally, we will begin a scarf project of your choice, hopefully completing it by the end of the series. 

Lessons include pattern, needles, practice yarns and one skein of alpaca yarn.  All students will receive a 20% discount on yarns and future lessons.  Lessons may be arranged to be taken here at the farm or at the location of your choice within a 100 mile radius of the farm.  Mileage charges apply.

We have an extensive library here at the farm that covers all things fiber.  You can check out pattern books, books on knitting and spinning techniques, crochet, beginning weaving, wet and dry felting, dyeing, toy making and a host of other topics.  We also have Spin Off magazines, Interweave Knits, and old Work Basket magazines from the 40's, 50's and 60's available for your use.

There is no charge to check out a book or publication, but you must put down a $25 deposit which will be returned to you when the book(s) or publication(s) are returned.

Availability is limited to what is on hand. One book or 2 magazine limit, per deposit, for a period of four weeks. Work Baskets available for local use only. Renewals welcome. Any postage paid by customer. Late charges held out of deposit.
